Architecture and Landscape Reflections Contemporary Painting on

2nd to 6th October as part of the activities of the 8th. Panama Art Biennial held a seminar entitled "Reflections on Contemporary Art" taught by artist and professor Saidel Brito of Cuban origin currently residing in Ecuador. The course was raised from premises in which it was intended to arrive at an approximation through art history, especially the art of the twentieth century the meanings of the painting, the artist's role, the system public art; questions raised and discussed during a week. The course was an emphasis on modern art and the artists who have forged the pictorial work and exploration in their variants throughout this century (XX good century, the past) including recent samples. One of the conclusions were that painting continues to maintain a resounding validity as support within the art world as long as its role in the heavy weight of history and tradition of painting is done through a critical and contemporary. Workshop participants included students, teachers, cultural workers, journalists and artists who had the opportunity to present and discuss their own work.

Start the 8th. Panama Art Biennial

two weeks ago was held in the building for exhibitions of the Museum of Biodiversity official presentation the 8th. Panama Art Biennial , an activity organized by the Foundation for Art and Culture, led by art historian Monica Panamanian Kupfer and cultural manager Eduardo Araujo.
In recent years this event has some changes and is renewed every time and be aware of the needs of contemporary art in ways both conceptual and contemporary vision of presenting the "Art" held today, understood it from what supposedly is or should be. The proposal for this year is a series of academic and artistic events that take place during the period 2007-2008. As a theme was chosen former Canal Zone.
La Biennale this year wants to stop being a panacea for local art to become an urban art project, as was once Multiple City as a parallel activity to that time 100 years of Panama as a nation, where the art object was Panama City.
This time gap opens an interesting topic , pushed mainly by Panamanians, what it meant in terms of urban, architectural art and the former Canal Zone . A different territory, a block away, with a particular identity was constructed and developed in conjunction with the Panama Canal for almost 75 years and disappeared in a span of 10-15 years ago. Now only remains, the memory, its multiple meanings and its inescapable presence as part of the new Panama City. I mean new as in actually being a very dizzying.
And this part of the city that adheres after 2000 is experiencing a slow process of becoming a prostitute virgin territory at once, full of urban and architectural inconsistencies that seem wonderful and terrible, which meet supposedly noble interests of educational, technological, philanthropic, cultural and trade under the protection of many foundations, but without the one chord, the product actually ineffectiveness and therefore State Government to undertake the tasks that correspond . These initiatives also sector correspond to a thriving civil society, professional, very intelligent, resourceful and international vision.
La Biennale this time invited foreign artists to work and be involved in the issue, which will provide a fresh view from outside. Hopefully be able to look beyond the skyline tropical and private activities of ACP SA . I'm pretty sure the results will be very interesting and will be a first step to a part of the construction of our identities both Panamanians who stayed at this part as they no longer are (the Americans).

Urban Infrastructure in Santiago de Veraguas

few months ago I wrote a post about the history of my hometown edilicia Santiago de Veraguas , which was I think an interesting discussion in the comments of the blog readers. In the end my personal conclusion is that the inhabitants of these villages inside the country also feel interested in discussing the development and evolution of their physical environment whether urban or rural. This time I show you some pictures of the new urban infrastructure of the American section of road that runs through the westernmost part of the country. This is a project that takes many years and various government administrations that involves making up the entire country's road network to meet national development plans of tourism and the agricultural issue. It's been so with the city of Chitre, Las Tablas, Penonomé, David and it was the turn of Santiago de Veraguas. These are works rather the state, which successive governments need to run to meet a work of great significance for management and obvious, but is far from being part of a local development strategy and even national or local in the field of urban development.

Usually there is a misunderstanding between the population of what urban development. These works consist mainly widening of streets, rolling pavement better quality (concrete instead of asphalt layers), construction of sidewalks and lighting in all sections of the tracks. In one of the project there is also a high street (as exist in cities like Los Angeles, Houston or Panama City) that actually it is permitted to lighten the traffic but does not as efficient or worse with wide turns and narrow streets of lower level.

Yes, allows for better infrastructure and vehicular mobility in the seemingly most important points but the cost is very high (the cost of these works amounted to millions of dollars for a few cars traveling above and others below) compared to other needs such as a real plan of expansion of the city, the promotion and development of new types of housing, woodland and ornamental plant of the city completely, studies of a modern public transport system, a huge natural park, sports facilities of all levels (from baseball, soccer, tennis, swimming pools that are truly Olympian, cultural facilities, museums, theaters, auditoriums, etc). Ie urban economic strategies to enhance and create the city's approach to job creation and improved quality of life for its inhabitants. Start thinking to build models and stop copying recipes ls Panama City are examples completely at random, spontaneous and only lead to utter chaos. Lights have to look and think long-time city model we want to build a city that is planning and management model for the rest of the country.

Casa Cor Panama 2007

In this case invited a number of professional and commercial firms that exhibited many professional services and products.
While the field of interior design and decoration is not a new area in our country as long there are many people dedicated to it, is a very ambiguous area of work especially for the multidisciplinarity of the case and also The kinds of commissions and the various needs of customers. In the residential area usually what is done is called "decoration" for some pretty derogatory term, as they try to embellish or decorate a space with movable objects, an exercise for many "superficial" far from the pragmatic and functional practices that the same organization and use of space has to derive the propriety or aesthetics of the environment. The practice of interior design in Panama, in the residential area, is reserved especially for families of higher economic class than those traditionally responsible for public projects of the court recognized the surname of ancestry that their knowledge and "good taste" are responsible for the selection, together with the client, furniture, fabrics, paints, finishes, etc.. More recently due to the specialization of professionals is offering these services more professional, including more technical and complex services for graduate architects and interior designers. In schools of architecture this issue goes almost unnoticed and in the interior design schools in spite of great efforts, for some graduates of this race will cost to have a more established practice as architects as is usually the marketing spend products in the area of counseling, customer service and sales.
Casa Cor is an event which highlights and showcases the talent and creativity of the professionals in this field since it usually lagged behind trade shows as Bello ExpoHabitat Home or work or making anonymous and unknown to the majority. The event as interior design theme reveals some flaws such as the design of movable parts. There was almost no proposals for the exhibition design of new parts, at least a chair or table. I remember seeing just a coffee table playing with a mirror-lined room designer Vicky Dalhgreen. The rest is mostly limited to the selection of furniture in the house sponsors that matter most contemporary furniture reproductions design of other homes very important as Vitra, Herman Miller and Knoll. A rather interesting note the event is the inclusion of artists and artworks in the rooms. Although, the selected works were part of the theme of "matching" of the artwork with the decor, the opportunity was propitious for assembled a varied and beautiful collection of paintings and sculptures, among Panamanian and Latin American Eduardo Tokeshi favorites, Braulio Matos, Aristides Ureña Ramos, Sebastian Spreng, Connie Lloveras, Eduardo Navarro, Tabo Toral, most of Galeria Arteconsult but also had works Mateo Sariel Galeria inhabitant. They could not miss the sweaters in this figurative Diego Linares although syncretic and black has become a cliche of interior design Panama today. It's what Al Sprague was in the seventies and eighties.
In all environments, which definitely gets all the honors was the space "Master Bedroom" designer Patricia Maduro. Simply beautiful, inspired by Thomas Jefferson (American tradition of the interiors of a neo-Palladian Villa), the sophisticated simplicity of the details that did not hesitate to show, without being morbid visual gluttony or eclectic historicism. He was able to capture the atmosphere that love of tradition and comfort that must exist in a home.
Other areas highlighted were the "Den", designed by Vicky Dalhgreen, the "Formal Board" designer De La Guardia and the "Bath" sponsored by the Life Store. The "Bath Master Bedroom" by Jorge Zarak is very interesting because it leaves a large central space without partitions and all the appliances and furniture located at the perimeter, with dark violet tones give it a certain elegance, though there mega plasma TVs makes it less intimate and even pretentious.

Getting there.

Note that in his student of architecture was the first president of Daedalus Readers Assembly (I was the second), who suggested as the logo of the organization the same design, so there must come the references. Apparently his team made a proposal to landscape the rest of the area but it is quite difficult to understand if it took place.
Casa Cor has definitely been the "reality show" of the Panamanian interior designers. We hope the 2008 version in a house "Hispanic" as Hispania Building or other "Mid Century Modern" and the International Insurance Company of the Plaza on May 5 but did not but they could put up a parking valet parking as they did in the case now. Forgot to mention that on Wednesday the entry for students is $ 5.00 and regular admission is $ 10.00, no cameras allowed. They also have a catalog sale advertising display + at $ 15.00. The doors of Casa Cor Panama 2007 will be open until 12 August.

Siberian Husky Jaw Pain

Bella Vista and architecture (Part 1)

What a few months ago was seen as a possibility today is real. The city's economic cycle in terms of promotion, design and construction of condominium apartments, a typology emerged in the early eighties and widely developed in the nineties after the crisis, has meant that this model of urban housing has left up its traditional niche as Punta Paitilla , vacant lots and in Obarrio Marbella the proliferation scattered in the periphery and in some parts of downtown as Bella Vista, El Cangrejo and San Francisco, resagados to use more passive, more domestic scale and infrastructure. This is a process that could call "normal" for the growth of the cities, as these will densifying, fit the services and needs of the new requirements. However, point to object is the way in which this phenomenon occurs. Faced with a society steeped in free market economies, where demand and profit becomes valid excuse for any fact, the earth or soil developable becomes more than marketing a product. there is where you should see the term "urban" political support arm so that it can really have an effective enforcement. From the point of view "urban" have to make some general guidelines and not left to chance or good luck creating a physical environment is as complex as the city.

Fight

economic interests on one hand while the other claim of a group of concerned citizens that, given the ineffectiveness unsurprising State, or seek alternative ways to deal sustainable development and harmonious both the city and its citizens. Such is the case with what is happening now in the neighborhood of Bella Vista and exposure.

Reading Triple Beam Balance Worksheet

UNDER CONSTRUCTION: Veranda Tower Coco del Mar

Coco del Mar is a sector within the district of San Francisco to set up the Via Cinquantenaire pushed into the sea and traditionally Housing has been with a few mid-rise condominiums. was building the South Corridor, a highway over the sea towards the East Coast and Tocumen, change the characteristic of the neighborhood make this the gateway to the mainland to the city for any traveler reached the city by the airport.
Despite having some major condominiums, this community has continued to maintain that domestic air housing middle and upper middle class, with the parish the township, a Jewish social club, one that other local businesses and a couple of houses Caribbean architecture wood that are vestiges of the first settlers, a fishing community. Share with Monumental Panama Viejo a cost of great products by a constant Desplaye low tide, mangrove ecosystem and a marine horizon brought by a fast track to the sea. The product of these factors determines to a rather ambiguous status between domestic and urban coastal district with a skyline dispersed and less powerful as it can be or is being Paitillla Punta Punta Pacifica. Anyway, this sector does not escape the sight of investors and prospective field of speculation by developers. Some houses are already being offered for sale to the occupation of condominiums but the only way that these projects can become truly attractive is through height. Projects such as Icon Tower, Verandas Tower, Bahia del Golf is listed among the most recent.

One new project is almost completed Veranda Tower office arch. Jaime Ventura & Asociados. The building is quite easy to solve two apartments per floor, limited by maximum utilization of land ortogononal configuration. Spatially can not say a lot of these buildings rather than its formal aspect is limited to a perimeter of the tower quite broken, consolidating the details of corner, top and main facade, combining volumes and materials such as glass that allows light in large social areas and thin profiles being more exposed to harsh thermal and temperarure variations. He had a monochrome palette of gray and white regular balcony with variations on several levels, breaking down the body as you asencidendo to give an appearance of lines very MoMoMo.

Price: $ 818.00 m2. The apartments start at 170 m2. Render and Image Source: Journal Inmobilia

Wedding Program Like A Comic Book

UNDER CONSTRUCTION: Infinity San Francisco Bay Palace

This famous boom of development and construction building, I had my reservations that some of the projects would come to materialize and are not more than publicity stunts, renders and a strategy for real estate speculation. Apparently the facts indicate otherwise. Buildings that are promoted are beginning to build and many of them are in final stages. Although Panama is not a big market, investors are betting on attracting buyers and foreign residents, mainly from the U.S. and immigrants with high purchasing power in countries like Venezuela and Colombia for their political and social instability.
So some houses have as neighbors to these Colossae towers are a new feature both urban as the site architecture.
San Francisco Infinity is a project located in the district of San Francisco on Calle 73, the office of architect Musa Asvat ( www.musaasvat.com )
. It is a multi-residential building of 4 apartments per floor with social amenities. The base of the building (parking) is in the height of the neighboring houses and villas and apartment tower easily stands overlooking the city. Breaking the volume into two separate but identical bodies while apparently makes the tower look more slender, while each body is aligned to the street and on one end makes a turn to give a rhythm to the horizontal bands of the sills of the window frames with some references to Constructivism with no leakage angles orthogonal distorionan perspective through the volume of the building. Some variations in the configuration of the first plants looking to add some elements to the composition, especially retro-modern look. If we cling to the classification made by the arch. Darién Montañez could be both MO-MO (Modern Movement) as a PO-MO (Postmodern-by citation to the past of the Modern Movement). The typical apartments no longer have a conventional design. The views in a few years would be secured but by the transformation neighborhood is very easy to bet a lot of new buildings around and is immersed in a sea of buildings facing each other. A further advantage is sure to live in downtown Panama City while the urban infrastructure of the neighborhood is quite poor as the pedestrian traffic on sidewalks is not well structured. Also the narrowness of the streets of the neighborhood with the new density will cause traffic congestion enough, look normal in any city. Price: $ 815.00 approx per square meter. Aptos from 149 m2.

Portable Car Odometer

The controversy and commotion caused by both the design and construction of the Palace Bahia on Avenida Balboa and now the cancellation of the project and redesign of it is the hottest topic in terms of buildings and current construction boom in Panama. Within the city skyline from Avenida Balboa less congested area where infrastructure was the Bella Vista neighborhood that extends from Calidonia to the sea. The only two buildings that dominate the landscape building was the National Lottery and Charitable Watchtower building .
For the landscape features of views towards the sea and the Old Town neighborhood of Bella Vista is now categorized as a perfect site for real estate speculation. Besides being in the heart of the city there are some steps you foresee an increase in value as the purchase of the building Poli by the City of Panama for their offices. Also this sense the presence of domestic architecture that many know as "bellavistino" which in reality is Hispanic or English Revival, a fairly large number of pintoescos chalets, villas, houses and architecture not only romantic or traditional, but simple but good examples of architecture influenced by the International Style. Conservation or interest either bibliographic or restoration of this part of the architectural history of the city has been low and now the interest of investors and project developers has forced some sectors of civil society (Pro-City Partnership: Alvaro Uribe, Raibeth Banfield, Magela Cabrera and others) or State ( INAC) to prevent through the media or some minor construction regulations of the destruction of architectural heritage.
El Palacio de la Bahia constituted the tip lance of the transformation of Bella Vista on a possible field for speculation. This project from the beginning is always a symbol, was supposed to be the tallest building in Latin America, its aesthetics, postmodern, full of outdated archetypes, appliqué and decorative cosmetics was because of the admiration of some groups with extravagant tastes and willing to receive admiration and respect. Darien Montanez also believes the same thing. At the end fulfilled its mission, many of the projects currently being advertised or promoted are nothing more than rendering and photoshop artifacts, with few references to geographical or architectural cultural context of the place. This was even financially and tectonically not viable for our country, as explained by the developer.
The truth is that new projects are now betting on the site. It is a good route to follow it follow vertical crescendo is densify even more so in applications and in services but it is also important that respects and values the cultural characteristics of places that are not only physical entities: a house, a roof or but rather a wall that is part of the collective memory. Recently Carlos Monsivais, upon receiving the award from the International Book Fair in Guadalajara expressed great contempt for the humanities latinoamerican. I think the destruction of artistic and cultural heritage is part of the contempt that speech.

Ingmar Bergman: Höstsonaten (Autunm Sonata)

After doing even more to leave the blog and some posts rather wandering back to the load for purposes of posting more often since there is much information available to it. Start 2007 with a recommendation for a filmmaker who may care insurance: Ingmar Bergman . favorite Woody Allen to the point of many of linking the debt of his films with Swedish director.
The music, the dialogues, the use of actresses "favorite" settings, etc. We could say that one belongs to an American version and the other more European, but both agree on the human drama. On the way there would be some differences like the humor or autosarcasmo Allen.
Wikipedia explains much better than me some characteristics of his style:
"It appellant the fact that most of the films of Swedish director, their characters traversed by the same pathways that are hospitalized. They are paths that lead back to themselves, to their own soul, to his own conscience. They are intimate tours, enigmatic, often seize transporting the viewer to a strictly personal and disturbing experience, to the extent that the characters Bergman made this path burdened by a heavy drama, one that involves stripping the human soul in generic form.
That path ends in some cases to madness or death, in others in a state of grace, a metaphysical point that allows its characters to understand more of their reality, a revelation that the light and modify the course of their lives. In some cases they serve to exorcise exorcise ghosts and dominate disturbed the soul of the character.

The transmission of these states of internal conflict of his characters distressing and hurtful stories originate, as few filmmakers have been able to convey "her public" and this is the greatest achievement of the Swedish director.
